I guess you could say this isn't so scientific but it's my evidence I have to collect and offer. Those rains were pretty intense and mostly from the south but dry river beds? The one above has some water in it just not flowing but if we had all these land slides and flash flooding (which we did) why do we have dry river beds? This one shows no evidence of major flow causing erosion.
These rivers are dry each time I've driven past. This I figure is because someone is diverting them upstream and sending the water somewhere else. I didn't have evidence for that but it's locally common speculation. These rivers were formed some how some time in the past… presumably heavy and consistent rains formed them or constant spring water reaching the surface, now they are just boring. What's going on? This was a huge rain event for Maui. We got most of our seasonal expected rain in this one weekend… few notice the irregularities the way EPIgirl does.
If I had discovered raging rivers in the cutout pie shaped radiation beam coming from the big island NEXRAD then I'd consider hanging up my theory but as it stands my readers will just have to continue to suffer my madness or my intelligence depending on your bias.
This normally dry river was running slightly but this one is outside of that beam zone and more east towards Kipahulu.
Should we call this anecdotal? Is anyone listening because I think this stuff is valid and intriguing and sadly it doesn't look like EPIgrl is going viral anytime soon.
Because this is what happened while I was posting this trade winds reverse series daily…. Maybe I'm just not very entertaining.
Trade Winds Reverse (Vol. VIII)
I'll skip drawing the lines to show that this lane of rain is in the same area always between the NEXRADs.
